What we offer

What we offer

We aim to make a difficult day a little less stressful.

A gentle approach - we understand how difficult this process is, we have been there both as professionals and pet owners. As a dedicated service we don't have appointment time limits or waiting rooms full of patients. We will take everything at a pace that suits your pet and your family.

Privacy and comfort - our appointments take place where your pet feels most comfortable - at home. That means no waiting rooms or stressful journeys, just loving surroundings.

A personal take - every pet owner is different and has individual needs. If that means you want to be present or absent, if you want to navigate having children present or if you just want to be giving cuddles and feeding treats, we will do our best to accommodate your wishes.

Sedation - we include pre-euthanasia sedation as standard. Helping ensure your pet is pain and stress free. They will gently fall asleep in the comfort of their own home

Experienced care - our vet has 10+ years of small animal veterinary experience and has taken on extra training in the current best practices for end-of-life care.

Aftercare - whether you want to bury your pet at home or opt for cremation we can help you with arrangements. We work with Connaught Pet Crematorium to offer a range of cremation options.

We are also proud to use euthabag. Did you know that most veterinary practices place pets that have passed in plastic bags? We want to do better. Euthabag is an environmentally friendly, respectful option that can be customised by you with drawings or messages.

Keepsakes - we take paw prints and hair clippings at no additional cost. We also offer paw impression kits. If you would like to find another way to honor your pet's memory ask us for our list of ideas.

Meet our vet

Dr. Aoife Madden

Animals have always been a big part of my life, I grew up surrounded by cats, dogs and horses. This led me to study veterinary medicine at UCD. I graduated with a first class honors degree in 2014. Since then, I have been working as a companion animal vet in practices across the U.K. and Ireland. Work led me to Galway in 2017 and I fell in love with the place.

I have always believed that the most important part of my job is to prevent pain and suffering in our pets. For this reason, I pursued additional training in veterinary acupuncture and pain management. More recently this passion has led me to look at how we routinely perform euthanasia in veterinary practice and ask is there a better way? Home Comforts Vet Care was born from this, from a  desire to give owners a choice in how they say goodbye and offer the service I would want for my own pets.

I have always felt it a privilege to be present with animals and their families at all stages of life and I hope I can be there for you and your pets when you need me.
